Invest in Retail Security
September 13, 2018Retail Security Manchester and North West England. The world can be a dangerous place. Murders, robberies, rapes, and assaults can happen at any time. If you are the owner of a Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds based business, the chances of being robbed or assaulted for merchandise or money increase tenfold. The best way to protect yourself and your employees is to invest in retail security. Many Manchester businesses and retail stores, large and small, hire or implement security or loss prevention staff. These measures act as a physical deterrent to thieves, vandals, and others who may want to do you or your employees harm. By investing in security equipment or a retail security guard, you can rest assured that you, your employees and merchandise are protected from theft, injury and vandalism.
One aspect of retail security is technology. Several technological devices can be used to prevent theft, damage, or harm to your business or employees. One device you can use is a closed circuit television (CCTV) system. For businesses that cannot afford a retail security guard, video cameras are an excellent way to keep an eye on customers. If you suspect any suspicious activity or if a crime occurs, you can always review the tapes. Another system you could use to deter theft is the tag and alarm system, which is formally known as electronic article surveillance (EAS). To use this system, simply attach an EAS tag or label to an item. If someone tries to take merchandise out of the store while the tag has not been deactivated, an alarm will sound. Although it will not completely deter shoplifters, theft is reported to decrease by 60 percent. In addition to closed circuit television and electronic article surveillance systems, you can also use radio frequency (RF) systems. A small, disposal electronic circuit and antenna tag or label is placed on merchandise. If the tag or label is not removed, then an alarm will sound when going through the receivers.
Although technology can provide excellent retail security, you should also hire a retail security guard to protect your Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool based business. There are three types of retail security and loss prevention employees. Overt security guards wear uniforms and are known and seen by everyone. Covert security guards do not wear uniforms and blend in with customers to provide close range surveillance. Technical security guards monitor and maintain security systems and cameras. No matter what type of security guards you invest in, they are an excellent way to prevent harm from coming to you and your employees and keep your merchandise from being stolen.
In addition to investing in a retail security guard or technological security devices, there are ways you and your employees can help prevent theft. You and your employees should remain alert for suspicious and strange behaviours from customers such as appearing nervous or spending a long time browsing. Constantly ask customers if they need assistance, especially if a customer appears suspicious. Make sure to maintain all walls and doors and that no walls and bushes can be used as a hiding place. By using some of these retail security measures you can rest assured that your merchandise and employees are safe.
